Vivian Yaa-Serwa Akoto has been appointed by the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network Council to lead the Liberia Chapter of the Network as President. She takes over the baton from Genevie Babygirl Johnson who has been the Chapter’s President since 2017.

Vivian Yaa-Serwa Akoto is an anti-corruption practitioner and is currently the Programme Assistant to the Commissioner for Education & Prevention at the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

She is the CEO & Founder of the Ma-V Foundation, a charity-based organization that focuses on Women Empowerment and creating Safe Homes for orphans and disadvantaged young women. She is a mentor to young women and girls, a motivational speaker, a worship leader and an entrepreneur.

She worked with the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) prior to working with the LACC and was assigned to the Military as Protocol Assistant. She has worked as an Administrative Assistant with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Project and as an Executive Secretary to the CEO of the Atlantic Life Insurance Company. She also volunteered her services to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the Population Services International (PSI) in 2010.

She has served as the Vice President for the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network, Liberia Chapter since 2019 and has been a member of the YAWC Network since 2018.  She was also the Leader of Delegation for Liberia delegates who attended YAWC 2021 in Ghana, YAWC 2022 East Africa Sub-regional session in Kenya in May 2022 and YAWC 2022 Annual Continental Convocation in Ghana in October 2022.

She holds a BSc in Economics from the United Methodist University (UMU) and a certificate in Economics and Financial Crimes Management from the Economic Financial Crimes Academy, Abuja Nigeria.

Ms Akoto is expected to team up with other stakeholders in Liberia to mobilise more women in Liberia towards an empowerment destination.

In a similar vein, Amooney B.S. Gborkorquellie has been appointed as the Vice President of the YAWC Network, Liberia Chapter.

She works with Universal Customs Ambassador Inc, as their duty-free Manager. She is passionate about helping and bringing people together.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and public administration.
