The Young African Women Congress (YAWC), a Pan-African women’s convention is set to host the 2023 Annual Continental Convocation in Accra, Ghana from 17th to 21st September. This was contained in a release by YAWC Management.

Since its inception in 2016, the Young African Women Congress has impacted thousands of young women of African descent who are living in Africa and the diaspora and it has positioned them to be change agents in their communities. The 2013 East Africa Subregional session was held at the Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda in April and it was under the theme, “Women’s Empowerment for Sustainable Development; A Collective Responsibility”.

The annual continental convocation is the major session and it is looking forward to bring over five hundred (500) women from Africa and the diaspora to Accra, Ghana. The theme for this year’s continental convocation is “Harnessing Digital Innovation for Women’s Development”. It will take a critical look at how digital tools can be used to advance women’s development in Africa.

It will feature renowned women leaders across Africa, business giants and officials from the UN Women and African Union Commission who will lead the conversation at the congress. Participants of this year’s edition will also be given the opportunity to present their projects at the parallel session. Other events that will be held on the side-lines of the congress includes cultural night and a full day fun trip to the Volta Region of Ghana.

YAWC is open to young women of Africa and the diaspora who wish to be a part of the biggest platform for women empowerment in Africa. The platform promotes knowledge sharing and intellectual discourse and most importantly, engenders a strong sense of belonging which propels participants to become changemakers in their immediate environments with rippling effects on the continent at large.

Registration is currently on-going and prospective participants can log on to the official website, www.yawcafrica.org to register.
