The Excellent Leadership Group (ExLA Group) paid a courtesy call on the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Claudia Turbay Quintero on Friday 20th November, 2015. The purpose of the visit was to express appreciation to H.E.  for honouring the invitation to be at the ExLA Awards 2015 held on 24th October, 2015 at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

The ExLA Group Team led by Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor (Exec. Dir., ExLA Group) was accompanied by Maranatha Agyei Tiwaa (Dir., ExLA Group Gender Programme – EGGP), Benjamin Akowuah Acheampong (Dir, Programmes & Projects – ExLA Group) and Christable Owusu Mfum (Assit Dir., EGGP) was welcomed by H.E. Mrs. Claudia Turbay Quintero (Colombian Ambassador to Ghana) and Mr. Fernando Grillo Rubiano (Dep. Head of Mission, Embassy of Colombia in Ghana).

H.E. Turbay Quintero in a welcome note expressed her delight of the ingenuity of ExLA Awards and her participation at this year’s ceremony. She noted that ExLA Awards which seeks to identify and honour responsible leadership is very significant to our development as conscious efforts should be made to recognise our own for the good things we do as Africans.

She however emphasized that the operations of ExLA Awards should go beyond identifying and awarding credible personalities to making honoraries mentor young ones and provide a platform where they can interact and impact positive virtues and values in society. She added that the ExLA Awards should in the short to medium term consider honoring responsible leaders and change agents across the West African sub-region.

She noted that her interaction with the Ghanaian community since her appointment has been awesome and pointed out that Ghana has the potential of being a hub for Africa not just for trade but for harnessing the vast potentials within the continent.

In response to views expressed by Her Excellency, Mr Osei Tuffuor affirmed the commitment of ExLA Group to take up the laudable recommendations and also build a lasting partnership with Colombian Embassy. He further revealed; ExLA Group through its Gender Proggramme (EGGP) has launched the Young African Women Congress that seeks to harness and  groom young African women for global leadership and development towards attaining Global Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5). Mr. Osei Tuffuor used the opportunity to formally invite H.E. Quintero to be part of the YAWC 2016.

H.E. Quintero welcomed the YAWC initiative and affirmed her commitment to fully participate in the activities of the congress. She expressed the Embassy’s commitment to partner EGGP for YAWC 2016 stating that she will personally invite two renowned Colombian women leaders and gender advocates to share their experiences with the young participants during the congress.
