The YAWC Network Uganda Chapter on the 8th March 2021 celebrated women’s day in a special way, by visiting the students of St Joseph’s Girls SSS Nsambya in Kampala.
The team led by the Global President Ms. Jackie Nyapendi and the Vice president of the Ugandan Chapter Mrs. Aturinda Ireen Mutekanga were received at the school by the teacher on duty and introduced to the girls.

During the visit, the team had an interesting and interactive session where topics like; Women and leadership, Teenage pregnancies, Sexual harassment and health were discussed.
The team encouraged the girls to stay focused on chasing their dreams, and have confidence that they can take up any leadership position regardless of their gender. The girls were also encouraged to stay in school to avoid falling prey to teenage pregnancy which can destroy their future dreams.

In addition, the girls were given tips and warning signs of sexual harassment and breast cancer, in the harassment and health talks respectively.

The visit was crowned by gifts that were presented to the most active students during the session, which included copies of the book ‘THRIVE’ Written by the Global President, YAWC branded pens, notebooks among others.

After the session with the girls, the chapter members had a meeting over lunch, to celebrate women’s day, strategise, and plan for the activities ahead.

A special thanks to everyone who contributed to make this day a success.
