A delegation from the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network has paid a courtesy call on the His Excellency Henry J. Omaku (fcim) at the Nigeria High Commission in Freetown Sierra Leone on Monday 21st August, 2024.
Mr Daniel Osei Tuffuor, the Executive Chairperson of the Young African Women Congress Network who led the delegation informed the High Commissioner that the purpose of the visit was to officially express their profound gratitude to the Nigerian government for its support towards the Network over the years since the establishment of the Nigeria Chapter of YAWC, always supporting some delegates to attend the annual convocations of the network’s congress. He also used the opportunity to officially inform the High Commissioner about the network’s partnership with the Office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr Fatima Maada Bio to host the 7th edition of the Annual Continental Convocation of the Young African Women Congress in Freetown from 20th to 24th November, 2024.
He added that the support of the High Commission is needed to make the congress a success since young women and high-profile guests from Nigeria will be participating in the five-day residential event.
In his response, H.E Henry J. Omaku (fcim) welcomed the delegation to the High Commission and commended the network for the tremendous work it is doing on the African continent. He recounted the impact of women in our world and added that women must always be given the space to continue to contribute their quota to our development.
