Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagye is a Lawyer and the Executive Director of The Ark Foundation Ghana, a Women’s Human Rights NGO that established the first Shelter for battered women in Ghana in 1999 and also set up a Crisis Centre, a Legal Centre and a Counselling Centre for rendering sexual and gender based violence and child abuse services in different locations in the country. She is an Adjunct Lecturer in Gender and the Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana; a Consultant and trainer on Gender and Women’s Human Rights; a Counsellor, and a motivational public speaker. Her interests are women’s empowerment, young women’s leadership development, mental health advocacy and poetry. She has won a number of national awards for her work in promoting women’s empowerment including the Millennium Excellence Award in 2010. She won the Micah Award from the organisation, Christians for Biblical Equality in Los Angeles, USA in July 2015. She is an honorary of Excellence Leadership Award (ExLA Award) for Women Empowerment/ Model Woman, October 2015.
