Ghana’s Gender Minister to Speak on the “Gender Ministers’ Panel” at Young African Women Congress (YAWC) 2019

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection for the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Cynthia Morrison has been empanelled to speak at the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) 2019 in July in Accra, Ghana. She will be addressing delegates from over 20 countries on the continent together with three other Gender Ministers from Liberia, Cameroon and Uganda in a special segment, a High Level Panel dubbed “Gender Ministers’ Panel”. The theme for the High Level Panel is, “Africa’s Women Empowerment in Retrospect: The Gains, the Challenges and the Way Forward”.

At a brief meeting held in Accra on Monday 17th June, 2019, the Executive Director of ExLA Group, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor briefed the Minister on the essence of the High Level Panel and the general objective of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) which is in its fourth successive iteration in Ghana.

Without overemphasizing the impact that meetings on gender related issues could have on women empowerment, the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, acknowledged the efforts of ExLA Group, organizers of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) and pledged her support for the congress.

The 2019 edition of the Young African Women Congress is set to take place from Sunday 21st July to Thursday 25th July, 2019 in Accra, Ghana under the theme, “Grassroots Mobilisation for Women’s Empowerment: Young Women Lead”. It will feature well renowned women leaders across the globe who would impart knowledge to young African women delegates through keynote presentation, panel discussions and group brainstorming sessions among others. Delegates get the opportunity to contribute to discussions and are also treated to a full day tour within the host nation to promote Africa’s heritage and tourism.

YAWC is opened to all African women within the age limit of 18 and 45 who are interested in making impact within their immediate environments and influencing the continent as a whole.
