Rosaline Obah has been reappointed by the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network Council as President of the Network’s National Chapter for Cameroon. This will be her second tenure as leader of the Central African country’s Chapter of the pro women’s network.

Ms.  Obah is a trainer/consultant in Peace Journalism. With over 17years of quality service, she has distinguished herself severally as a leading peace and Gender Based Violence (GBV) activist and outstanding communication expert. She is the current National Co-ordinator of the Cameroon Community Media Network (CCMN). She has trained publishers, station managers, editors and student journalists on the tenets of Peace Journalism to the tune of over 1500 through the CCMN and the Centre for Strategic Communication, Peace building and Sustainable Development (CESCOMPSUD), an organisation she founded. She is also the Vice National Coordinator for the Gender Data Network Cameroon. She has coordinated multiple Peace Journalism projects and field actions involving shifting narratives within the media, via content productions with media houses across the country and online. She rans Peace Journalism narrative columns in some National and international newspapers/magazines and assisted in designing and supervising several peace education and volunteering projects and activities. She has been invited to different national and international fora to share best practices on Peace Journalism.

Ms Obah also works as National and International Consultant in Strategic/Corporate Communication, Corporate/Crisis Management, Peace building, Community development, Public Relations and Gender/ Rights issues. She is a Trainer of Peace journalism, Conflict Transformation, Do No Harm and Digital Literacy/Rights

She holds an International Master of Arts Degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor degree in Women and Gender Studies.  She currently specialises in corporate crisis management, peace building with high proficiency and competencies in strategic communication within the global perspective.

Rosaline is a rallying force around mainstreaming gender in media reporting and a faithful devotee to nation building. She constitutes a veritable buffet of peace Journalism and community development.

Having distinguished herself in an acting capacity as President of the Cameroon Chapter of the YAWC Network for one year, she was given a full appointment as the President of the Chapter for a two-year tenure from October 2020 to November 2022. Again, she held the National Chapter together and propelled it to become one of the most attractive Chapters within the YAWC Network globally, by membership and impact.

 

Ms Violet Nyebe Mongidor who has been the able lieutenant to Rosaline Obah during the last two-year tenure has also been reappointed as the Vice President of the YAWC Network of the Cameroon Chapter.

She is a gender activist and a woman’s peace-builder. She worked with the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, Cameroon, as the Administrative Assistant and later as the head of the gender department in the organisation. She currently heads the child’s protection department at the Sub-delegation for Women’s Empowerment and the family (MINPROFF) in Cameroon. She is also the founder and director of the Association for Common Initiative for Women’s Empowerment and Peace building (ACIWEP)

Violet has a BSc in Women and Gender studies; and Sociology and Anthropology.
