The Elections Committee of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network has released the Timetable for the Network’s Global elections. This was contained in a brief statement signed by the Chairperson of the Elections Committee, Dr Wirba Stephanie Kininla.

According to the statement, prospective aspirants for the positions of Global President and the Vice President are to file their application in writing to the Chairperson of the EC from 8th to 9th February, 2023. Vetting of aspirants is from 10th to 11th February,2023 whiles campaign and presentation of manifesto is from 12th to 14th February, 2023. Voting and Declaration of results is slated for 15th February, 2023.

The statement further added that the Elections Committee will use the Electoral College to conduct the voting exercise as stated under Article 14 clause 1(c) of the YAWC Network Constitution which states, “The Electoral College shall consist of all Chapter Presidents, Chapter Vice-Presidents, Chapter Secretaries, Chapter Media Liaison Officers and six other Chapter Members chosen by the National Chapter Executive Committee (NCEC) /Diaspora Chapter Executive Committee (DCEC) and voting shall take place at a YAWC Convocation or any other meeting determined by the YAWC Network Council.”

The voting shall take place via an online platform designed by the elections committee.
